What is Stem Cell Treatment?
Stem cells are undifferentiated cells that have the ability to change into any specific type of cell in the body. Once deployed to an area of injury, these cells can transform into the cell type that is needed to help promote healing. Bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) and platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy are two types of treatments that involve the use of stem cells. These procedures can help accelerate healing for many patients suffering from conditions such as chronic tendon injuries, ligament injuries or fractures.
Patients under the age of 60 typically achieve tissue regeneration using their own “pluripotent” stem cells. However, as the body ages, it loses the ability to regenerate tissue from its own (autologous) stem cell. Patients over the age of 60 generally achieve better results using a combination of PRP and an umbilical cord stem cell transplant, called an allograft, to assist in tissue regeneration. For patients over the age of 60, our physicians may recommend Liveyon ReGen®, which are young and healthy stem cells derived exclusively from umbilical cord after delivery. Liveyon ReGen® umbilical cord stem cells are used to support tissue repair and regeneration.
What are Liveyon ReGen® Umbilical Cord Stem Cells?
Liveyon ReGen® is an umbilical cord tissue that captures all the greatest regenerative properties of this otherwise discarded tissue. Umbilical cord stem cells are a rich source of growth factors including collagen, elastin and fibronectin, which have been shown to help support tissue healing and repair. Liveyon ReGen® is the safest and least-invasive method of stem cell extraction available.
Liveyon ReGen® is produced in a cGMP lab that receives all umbilical cord donations from hospitals directly to the facility. This guarantees minimal handling and a lower risk of cell loss or contamination. The Liveyon ReGen® product is minimally manipulated preserving its natural healing properties.
What are Liveyon ReGen® Umbilical Cord Stem Cell Benefits?
Liveyon ReGen® is a natural alternative to cadaveric, animal or synthetic derived regenerative medicine products. The primary functions of Liveyon ReGen® is to provide soft tissue repair and regeneration through the presence of growth factors and stem cells naturally found in umbilical cord tissue.
Recovery Following Liveyon ReGen® Umbilical Cord Stem Cell Treatment
Patients should limit the use of anti-inflammatory medications following the Liveyon ReGen® umbilical cord stem cell therapy. No ice or heat should be applied onto the site of the procedure. Patients are recommended to perform active rehabilitation to help increase healing rates.
Is Liveyon ReGen® Safe?
Liveyon ReGen® is tested to meet and exceed the highest industry standards. Liveyon ReGen® has the lowest chance of transfusion reaction with HLA antigens, which is below 0.3%. All donors are pre-screened through an extensive medical review and an evaluation of pre-natal tests to help assure safety for all future Liveyon ReGen® recipients.
